Cheers mate....have i got good news for you, check these guys out they have hook norton old hooky, bitter, double stout and gold in their shop although they may not be online yet, they're really helpful and mail order stuff out no problem

    http://www.worldbeers.co.nz/
  • Kempicus

Nice one, love old hooky! my favourite has got to be Haymaker though!
  • Kempicus

Mate just popped into regional wines and spirits, they have a dozen Hook Norton Haymaker

    http://www.regionalwines.co.nz/

Their website probably isn't updated yet but give em a call if you want some
  • Kempicus

I'm just hoping they've lasted ok....always a worry when they sit in a hot container for three months!
  • Kempicus

Not me! IPA is my favourite style....to be more exact Double or imperial IPA! :0)
  • Kempicus

    Hey Ian
Was wondering if you get to blenheim very often?
  • Kempicus

No it's ok i was just wondering if you went there often i would ask you if you could get me some HB Maibock from fresh choice and post it over, Soren says they've got it at the mo
  • Kempicus

Sorry been in ridiculously boring meetings all morning! :0(
A six pack of Hofbrau Maibock would be exceptional if you can manage it or if they don't have 6 as many bottles as they have please :0) I can send you money to post them and reimburse you for the beer or i can send money after or whatever you want?
    Thank you very much!!!!

    JK
  • Kempicus

Thanks for that! no i don't have anything else i really want, i've been looking for Maibock for a long time and no where else in NZ has it, i posted a thread online to see if anyone had seen it and Soren was the only person that had. Hey thanks for this it really goes beyond the call of duty!
    Cheers

Ardenne....very nice beer! Love the tuatara beers, it's funny because they're so easy to get i forget how good they are, i love the IPA, there's a bar in newtown that does it on hand pump!
Hmmm 3 boys, i'm not on their xmas list at the mo....had a few things to say about the IPA....if it's good it's great but if you get a bad bottle it's really bad! they used wheat beer yeast for a while in their IPA and that was just wrong!
I had a nice big 2L flagon of yeastie boys golden boy on saturday afternoon while watching the cricket....BLISS! :0)
  • Kempicus

Newtown is a suburb of Wellington, there's three bars that do hand pumped ale in Welly not to shabby really! I think you're pretty lucky with a place called Black Creek in Blenheim? brewery tap of renaissance that does cool guest beers like pink elephant!?
You're going all grain? have you started yet? i've thought about it but get really good results with my partials that i haven't got around to it
  • Kempicus

Loads of fun and a selling point for your bed and breakfast...i'd stay at a place where there was good beer available! :0)
Nope haven't tried good bastards beer....not heard many good things about it so i'm in no rush
I've just transfered money to your account so it should show up tomorrow, i'll give you a yell when the beers turn up :0)

    Cheers

I'm a hoarder with a man cave, a convenient nice cool room that i keep all my brew stuff and beer so i'll store it away and have maybe one at a sitting with a selection of others to keep me going....i'm also a shocker when it comes to selection, i need a whole selection of an evening to keep me satisfied! ah beer delights and our little quirks! ;0)
Cheers for the tip of the haymaker, i do love that beer!!!
  • Kempicus

hahaha man i'm glad someone else does that too....always turn up with a pint glass and loads of different beers :0)
  • Kempicus

I know exactly what you mean.....i had my wife's work function last night, monteiths range only....it was a struggle! i ended up drinking wine which is weird for me. Almost feel like my saturday beer day was cheated! We're off to Bar ed this arvo to make up for it, maybe a nice tuatara IPA on hand pump to make me feel better!
  • Kempicus

Uuurggh tui and lion red...shoot me in the face!
    I will indeed! :0)
  • Kempicus

Well the IPA was off so i consoled myself with a Yeastie boys golden boy....lovely beer that!
  • Glynn Foster

G'day Ian. The Irish pub in Picton sounds like a great way to waste away a few hours while waiting on the ferry or water-taxi. I'll make sure to check it out. I must confess it's been far too long a time since I've had a good pint of Guinness. If I ever get my kegging setup going, I'll make sure to be able to produce some nitro too! :)
  • Stu McKinlay

    Hi Ian

We did a very very limited run of bottles for The Beer Store but other than that it is only on keg at some of the few free houses around NZ. Regional Wines and Spirits (Wellington) and Invercargill Brewery (Invercargill) do fill-yer-owns, so you could try to get them to fill and courier.

Find us a pub with a guest tap in Picton and we'll see what we can do...

    Cheers
    Stu

Mate it's got to be one of my 'beers of the year' from a NZ brewer, that and Armageddon probably....
Yep it's going to be low in carbonation but i've had plenty of flagons from there before that tasted good...not as good as from the tap but pretty damn good! Be prepared for a taste explosion!!! :0)
How much are they charging you by the way?
  • Kempicus

    Epic, it was a special....

  • Pint_of_Bitter

Hi Ian - you profiled me very well. Seem we have very similiar tastes - I'm pretty much an anglophile and therefore focus on english style bitters. Big fan of lower alcohol Ordinary bitters as well as Bests & Extra Specials. Though have only just started AG brewing so can't offer much recipe advice. I can dig out the John Palmers recipe for an ESB. Email me if I forget to send it. Will definitely try and brew something like Bookbinder in the near future. Studio1 has a good looking recipe in a thread somewhere there.
  • Pint_of_Bitter

...just to clarify. The recipe Studio1 posted was for a Ordinary bitter from memory rather than a Bookbinder clone - my comment might have been a bit misleading.

Is the mill a new aquisition Ian ?
Looks like a happy brewer to me !

Is the mill new Ian ?
  • 666 Brewing

    Hi Ian

Thanks for the comments...always good to get any feedback.

I am still working on the 2 beers, tweaking them to where I would like them! Now that I have my homebrew system out of packing, I can do the tweaking before releasing any others. The Gabriel will make a return to The Creek in the near future as Nikki has given me another tap.

    Thanks again for your comments

    cheers
    Graeme

That's good to hear mate.... I'm glad I could have been of assistance to you. My suggestion would be to flick them an email and let them know about what you think about the beer they have sent you - I'm sure positive feedback will go a long way in ensuring continual quality of their product.

Cheers Mate - I'm tempted to get some myself now!
