Looks like the next Cellar-vate (Backbencher) beer tasting is 29th July at 6pm - this time it's the Belgians. Wandered past it just after lunch, and I think the cost was about $49, including some food. Won't be there myself, but thought I'd post it for those interested.
SOBA event tomorrow, Tuesday 14th July from 5pm at Malthouse - another keg of Bring your daughter to the porter has been shipped down from Hallertau. SOBA members, upon presentation of the membership card, get the first pint free.
I can't make it to the Emerson's tasting at regionals tonight :-(
Anyone want to take my place? I have already paid so its free for whoever replies first!
Spare place at tonights Regional beer tastings going. Wairarapa trains have conspired against me and I'm standed. Send me a message and I'll pass on the details if anyone is interested in going.
I've taking the Bambule spot for tonight. That means there is a spot open tomorrow at midday if anyone is keen (message me here or on 0274186639 - first in first served). Once you've gone to one of the annual Emerson's tastings you will never want to miss one again.
Have been complete slacker lately. I have been doing new job at Air NZ testing new system and have not had time to drink or surf the net at work:(
Good news, my move to Wellington is near. My wife has had her transfer confirmed and will in the capital in December. So bring it on, looking forward to have regular tastings at Regionals and few sessions at the Malthouse.
Glynn - i've got the lamest phone in the world - an OKTA touch - and it doesn't have WiFi. This would only happen when the phone is designed as a giveaway for a moneygreedy telecommunications company who want to sell you a "great data package".
I don't think you're going to escape moneygreedy companies easily - unless you get something like the GPhone where you at least have some control (not much!). I find phones aren't much good for remote working, and prefer a laptop. Does mean there's more chance of spilling beer on it! Works well though - http://www.forum.realbeer.co.nz/photo/remote-working?context=user
Hi Guys. We're promoting the Kapiti Food Fair. Neil Miller will be doing a beer tasting event. Tuatara have confirmed, and we're working on the other boutique breweries. If you haven't tried Namibia Breweries' products, come have a look (and taste...)
Herman (The BeerBoys)
Also thought you'd probably want to go somewhere with your beer on tap - I know it was on at the Malthouse, and is on at Bar Ed. I'll prob finish work 4:45ish, and it will take me 15 min or so to Hashigo, 20 to Bar Ed. Reckon at both places you'll bump into a few other real beerers!!
Mate, are you gonna be in town till Sunday? I can't make it over to Welly myself but 2 kegs of 8 Wired Brewing's brown ale are on the boat as we speak, there will be a sneak premiere at the WBC event at the Malthouse on Sunday, including a free pint for the entrants, support crew etc.
that's a little trick I learned in "drug dealing 101" at uni: the first one is free... nah, it may sound cheesy but I'd like to give some back to the real beer community, I've received a lot of help and inspiration from here.
David, eminently sensible idea.
Soren, woohoo...Am looking forward to it. Am entering a "training wheels" pale ale that Mike taught us how to brew with.
yeah man, good stuff Steph! you and Jonny should have grabbed a free one even if you didn't enter. hope you'll enjoy my "training wheels" brown ale:)
Rev, if you send me down a pint glass I'll send it back full of beer:) nah, I'll get you a sample somehow, sometime:)
ha ha...Mike brewing for Steph, I'd say. He was our "contract home brewer". Pretty bloody good one at that. And, made some cheese scones. His Russian Imperial Stout was awesome. Depending on how the brew goes, maybe I'll have to add some to the case swap.
I'll be having a few drinks at Malthouse on Wedenesday from about 6. Be glad to meet anyone up for a drink? I'm in town for a few days, so be glad to catch up for a beer anytime?
having an excellent time in Wellington. Sorry if I missed you on Wednesday. I'll be having drinks today at Malthouse, shall we say 5.30ish. Please feel free to contact/txt me on 021 707 749. Hope to see you there.
Hi Guys
Just finalised the beer tastings for Saturday's Kapiti Food Fair with Neil Miller.
We'll be tastingTuataraArdennes and Heles, Croucher The Hef and Epic's Pale Ale. The BeerBoys stand will also have Moa, Windhoek Lager and Light, Urbok (Dark Festbier), and many top-end commercial brews. Cider lovers will get Savannah Cider and Ex Tall Black John Saker will host wine tastings for the Wine lovers. Monteith's and Tuatara have alsoo confirmed their stands.
Is there any PKB Remix and Exchange student left in Wellington? I'm desperate to try them and might do a quick field trip to the capital tomorrow night... If any one's keen for a drink I will spend all my waking hours at the malthouse and hashigo zake
We still have PKB remix on tap- no Golden Ticket left though. I will hopefully have 8 Wired Hop Wired IPA on tap tomorrow along with Renaissance Paradox and Discovery if we have a tap free!!
Specially for Soren, PKB Remix will be on the hand pump at HZ tonight, PBT permitting. And his own Hopwired has arrived, only 18 hours late. Going on alongside the new batch of his boss's MPA. We may even see Captain Cooker on later tonight.
