Damn this is a great beer
Indian Pale Ales were developed by the English brewers for troops serving throughout the Empire. To survive the long sea journey, large quantities of hops were added as a preservative. The defining essence of Emerson's 1812 IPA is the sheer 'Englishness'!
The beer has a delightful marmelade character with toffee maltiness, balance by complex, orangey and earth hop notes in both the aroma and palate. Tangy hops dominate the beer's lingering, dry finish.
Does anyone think this recipe is even close? I plan to use MO rather then gladdies, have all the ingrediants so worth a crack unless someone on here has a clone recipe they have tested?

Hi Peter
Did you do this and if yes how did it come out?
I would like to know as well.
It is really more-ish and would love to have a go.
Here is what I think of from that description.
25L batch
Mash water: 15L @73C
4.50kg Ale (2-Row)
1.25kg Munich Type 2
250g Caraaroma
Mash 75 mins @67C
Sparge water: 28L @75C
90 min boil
Target 35g @60
Willamette or Fuggle 25g @10
Yeast nutrient @5
Yeast: This will change a lot...I am going with Wyeast 1098. Maybe WLP007 or Wyeast 1968.
Ferment for 2 weeks between 20 - 23C (this will encourage esters). No secondary.
OG 1.051
FG 1.013
ABV 5.0%
SRM 10.4
Bitterness ratio 0.838
