I see Emerson's has a new IPA out. I realise no one probably has tasted it yet but given the ingredient list would anyone like to take a punt at a recipe?
Original gravity: 1073
Alcohol : 7.1 % a.b.v
Malts : NZ Pilsner, Ale malt, Carafa, CaraAroma, Crystal, rye and CaraPils
Hops : US Chinook, Amarillo, Citra, Zythos, Cascade and NZ Cascade cones,

Alright I admit it, I am looking for a IPA recipe :-)

About 5% carafa to make an IPA a black IPA...
Right so very little, say 1% I will take a punt on the grains
NZ Pilsner 50%
Ale malt 29%
Carafa 1%
CaraAroma 5%
Crystal 5%
Rye 5%
CaraPils 5%
What do you reckon?
Helps if I read the article properly Ralph. I see it is a Black IPA d'oh! So change Carafa to 5% back off the Ale malt to 25%.......
More Carafa to make it black.
go with 3-5% and drop back the carapils and caraaroma a bit.
Ok so far its
NZ Pilsner 50%
Ale malt 29%
Carafa 5%
CaraAroma 3%
Crystal 5%
Rye 5%
CaraPils 3%
The FG Should be around 1.019, based on my checks. someone might be able to offer more information.
