The right temperature during bottling.

Hi

I was wondering, when bottling, what do you good people use to keep the bottles warm? I've been using a heat pad in my wardrobe so far but was wondering if there are any better ways of keeping the bottles at the right temperature during secondary fermentation. Also how long does this normally take? I've just moved house and it doesn't have a hot water cupboard (which is where I used to store my bottled beer previously) so the wardrobe it is!

Not hugely crucial so long as it's relatively close to 25C. I store mine in my kitchen at 17-25C and everything carbs within about 10 days. It's slower at cool temps but it still happens. Temperature isn't so important during carbonation as there's no real effect on flavour.

That's a relief to know that it will still actually carbonate, but just longer at slightly cooler temperatures.. I guess the main ingredient to brewing and bottling is patience!

Yeh I just leave mine out in the shed here in Chch. This time of the year it might take 2 or 3 weeks to fully carbonate...

I've never bothered keeping the bottles warm and they always carbonate fine. Leave them in the house for a few days then pack them off to the shed for at least a month before trying one.
