Stocktaking/inventory System for small bar

Hi,
We are taking over the running of a local bowling club bar.
The systems currently in place are quite archaic and am looking to simplify the stocktaking and inventory management side of things.
This is our first foray into running a bar and it is a non paid role, can anyone recommend any ipad applications or spreadsheets they use which are simple & effective.
