Heat Exchanger

Hey,

Got a set of bar taps off trademe. When I pulled apart to clean found attached copper piping.

Do you guys recon this would work ok for a heat exchange for my wort? If so I'll get a mate to re-solder it to get it out then would I just clean up with steelo pad and then boil in hot water before using? Would that make it clean enough to put in the wort?

Right so did you then just braise the stepper hard copper and the elbow in one go? Did you have any sealing probs? Also did you then use hard copper for the uprights out of the kettle?

I used a longer stepper - about 30 mm long, so when assembled there was about 10mm of hard copper showing. I can't see any reason why you couldn't use a really short piece though.

No sealing problems.

Yeap, hard copper for the uprights.

Also soldering the chiller with elbows instead of bending it leaves you with a nice solid unit. The bent ones tend to flop around a bit.
