Can anyone give me their impressions of this malt??

I'm looking at brewing some Belgian beers and am wondering if the Gladfield pils malt can replace a continental (most likely Weyermann) pilsner malt. I've used an NZ pils malt for Belgians before (Malteurop) and found it too grassy and generally not right for the beer.

Mark I cant give you any impressions with regards to suitability for a Belgian-style beer, but I have always found the Gladfields pilsner malt to be particularly well suited to pale ales, in fact I may even go so far as to say some of my better pales/IPA's have been brewed with this malt. That may just be luck though.

Done a few SMaSH brew with this malt and not had any issues what so ever....its a very clean malt, does seem to ferment out very well....thats about all i know

Thanks for the replies, will give it a go

I think they also have a light lager malt which is supposed to be more malty than the pilsner if you're after a bit more character

I would not consider Lager Light to be more malty, it is simply a lager malt that is lighter in colour than our Pilsner. Look at American Ale if you want to go more malty and still keep more of a Pilsner profile.

Its a little sweeter than I would expect, noticeable if doing a high ABV beer but a great malt. I have done Pilsners, PA and a couple of belgains with it, no complaints.
