love how the media consistently get some of the facts wrong, and slightly twist reality. Over all a good article which pushes the battle to get market share. Love the comments from Liz that we just have to market harder. And DB's comments about the fact that publicans come to them.
So on-premise is only 20-25% I thought it was closer to 30%. So supermarkets are nearly 50%, so the other 25-30% are bottle shops?
Maybe marketing harder means go to the bars and offer them cash to buy taps and shelf space. Guess a free market means the ones with the most money win. Give consumers limited choice and that is all they will demand.
Working on New World in New Plymouth and W(h)anganui to start stocking Epic. Initial issue is the cost of shipping in such small amounts. But there is demand so it needs to be there.
Butlers Reef in Ohakura stock Epic Pale Ale already (in pints) but this is a bit of a drive from town. I am happy enough that it is in the area, but I know I would buy more Epic if it were at the supermarket. It is easier to justify spending when you already have a trolly full of food.

Nagging can work sometimes too! Our local supermarket stocked Epic Lager and pale ale, but only in the little bottles. A couple of months constant requests from yours truly (read nagging) later they now have the 500ml bottles and a happy local. I notice it seems to be moving too, so it's not just me that's happy.

Haven't seen Epic in Upper or Lower Hutt yet. I make sure we have it in the fridge at work but work drinks have just been reduced "due to the recession".
The bottle stores usually respond when you ask. Liqourland Tuaranga happily got in some Mayhem and even phoned me when it arrived a week back. Got there today though to find only three bottles left. Obviosuly some other prick down here is on to it, much to my disgust. I'm all for spreading the word till it starts running out... They reckoned it was the last case they could get their hands on!
