Hi,

I am thinking about getting a conical fermenter, birthday coming up and all. I'm more down the budget end, and the two choices as I see it are plastic Malt Mechanic here at $350 or the stainless steel SS Chronical here at $595. I'm swaying towards the SS, simply due to it being stainless, but does anyone have any thoughts as to why the plastic might be a better option, other than cost, or have anything positive or negative to say about either? Cheers.

I wouldn't say mine is an actualy conical, but I bought one of the SS Brewbuckets just before xmas. And I gotta say I love it, all the trub packs into the conical bottom and when it comes to kegging all it takes is some sterilised tube onto the vale and bang, not a drop of trub I am going to add some modifications to it, I have a thermowell on the way for my STC probe.
