Hi,
I was curious about the options for someone who wanted to pursue formal training for brewing here in NZ. Are there any specialized schools or programs? Obviously there are numerous international options, but I haven't seen too many options here. Just curious if anyone had any leads regarding this kind of thing.
Cheers

Have alook at that post, not sure when the courses are though.
I did this course last year and I recommend it. Dr Peter Aldred and Dr Frank Vriesekoop (the two instructors from Ballarat University) are extremely knowledgable, engaging and great guys. The lectures are pretty technical, with lots of biochemistry etc so be prepared to be bombarded with information from day 1. It's pretty intensive too with lectures for up to 9 hours a day. The sensory evaluation sessions were good and encompassed quite a few styles (and faults), and the outings to the maltery and breweries were a good time too.
I'm happy to answer any questions you may have about it.
Wow that looks awesome! So there are no more spots left? Gutted!
Sweet username btw, Catch 22 is my all time favourite book.
there is a new course running this year (2011) end of October for a 5 days. It is as technical as the Un i course without the high cost. It will be run out of Hallertau Brewery in Auckland and you get to brew alongside the brewer in the brewery.

PS Vince is a qualified brewer and scientist.
Hi Vince,
I'm very interested in this course and I've registered for your newsletter. Any idea when enrollments will be open for this course?
Cheers.
