Anyone used a washing machine motor to power a grain mill

Just looking at a motor to power my grain mill and I keep getting sniped on trade me so thought maybe the motor out of a washing machine might do it, has anyone tried one to run a grain mill?

I haven't... but I do have a spare washing machine sitting here if you want it!

thank for the offer but a mate who's a little bit country has already got one out for me out of his shed full of washing machines, so will start building my mill stand this weekend and give it a go, just got to work out pulley sizes to get it running at 200rpm which will be some fun

Could just use a Varible Speed drive. (Motorcontroller) maybe if you know some industrial sparkys they may have something lying around.......

I will have a look at that but I think I may have scored a 1/2HP electric motor with about the right size pulleys, now all I need is a stainless table thingy to mount it all on
