Yeah...needed to give myself enough time to see if tasted ok or not!! Def not a winner but brewed it all by myself (with jonny's supervision). Needs a bit more depth of flavour but a decent starting point!! Could possibly try another before the comp.
i'm thinking of a munich/amarillo smash over the next day or 2

20 ltrs
4kg munich
17g amarillo 60
11g at 15
11g at 5
11g at 1
mash at 68
s05

how does this sound to you guys?
would you go with those hop additions? would you add at 30 mins?
cheers in advance

What is your target OG?
software says 1.045 at 75% efficiency, not sure what i've been getting as i tend to forget the hydro samples!
4.3% abv
24.8 ibu
9.6 srm
right, jobs are done so i'm doing this tomorrow morning, i may up it to 40 litres though
would you go with those hop additions? would you add at 30 mins?

I'd add 11g at 30 minutes, but lots of people don't like that addition.
I'd also double the 1 minute addition
whats the reason for that? i'm intending doing a fw different smashes or simple recipes to learn a bit more about the various hop additions etc so any advice is appreciated!:)
Personal preference for the 30 minute addition.

For the 1 min addition, have a squiz through hoppy recipes listed here, you'll see most have at least 1gm per litre added at either 1 or 0 minutes
Two full fermenters (APA cold conditioning, Mild on d-rest) so nothing brewing for me today. However, I've made a starter in preparation for a Saison. Look out WBC, here I come!
Firing up the burners today for the last batch of the year.

My laptop got stolen out of my car on Christmas eve - so my brewing software has been stolen too.

It looks like from now on - I'll be brewing by feel... as I can't see myself buying anymore software.

With this in mind, I'll be brewing a dry stout for the Wellington BC sometime this week.

The ingredients will be:

Some Maris Otter
Some Flaked Barley
Some Roasted Barley
Some Target Hops
Some Yeast

Thats pretty much it.

There should be some alcohol in there as well as some bitterness. Should be a good brew.
Bummer, there's some bad, bad Pixies about huh
At least they didn't get your mash tun eh ?
